Do I need an EPC for my house?
As of 2009, any house that is sold or rented will require an EPC, as will all newly-constructed houses. When a house is sold the EPC forms a required part of the Home
Information Pack, so you will not need to have an EPC produced until you sell your house. This doesn't mean you can’t have your house assessed and an EPC issued,
if you want to find out how efficient your house is and how you might make improvements to cut down on your energy bills. However, at the moment a new assessment
will be carried out automatically when you sell your property, even if you already have a valid EPC.
In October 2008 it became law for all landlords to provide prospective tenants with a valid EPC for their property. See EPCs for Rented Properties.
